All these pictures were taken from projects done at my home within a 3 year time period. I've had five different contractors. These are of the finished work of four of them. As you look through these remember, it isn't a matter of being "picky". The point is that when you pay a contractor to work for you, you expect them to the be the expert. You expect them to know how to do the job and do it right. So that you don't have to worry about anything. In reality, if you aren't constantly watching, things like this can easily happen to you. Then, once the contractor says they're finished and leave, you find out later what a mess they left you with. After you paid them, trusted them and thought everything was fine. Then you have a new problem - finding someone else to correct the shoddy work left behind. More money. More frustration. And no guarantee the next person will be any better than the last. That's why it's time contractors face consequences!
That's fine, I like bugs.
...and free illumination at night.
Brand new. Can't figure out why it leaks.
Finished Door Threshold
Home made from Home Depot scraps. Notice the precise spacing.
That slanted gap at the top gives it a special touch.
Why is the frame cut like that? "Oh, they probably used a scrap. You want me to fix that?" No, I like crappy work.
They "had to" do it that way
Gaps around perimeter of entire building. Big enough to fit your foot under.
Code? What code? No, a step wasn't included with the building.
It took time to make it look that neat.
Apparently the nails used on the outside wall are supposed to go through the trim on the inside of the window
Imagine what it took to crack a major beam by simply pulling off the old patio roof.
From carfeully ripping off outside patio.
First contractor never finished the job.
Good thing the second contractor came along.
At least he did half. And had time to disconnect the solar panel permanently (on the left) before he abandoned the job
Second guy was thrifty. Why go to the store when you can make your own like this?
That little hole in the shower wall won't bother anything. And the plate can be used as a fidget spinner.
A matching set
Because the gate to the left was too close and would have hit the step when it opened.
Beginning of 3 month prefab enclosed patio project...
7 months into 3 month prefab enclosed patio project
Always nice to have a beer before driving home on Friday afternoon.
Especially nice because I have dogs that eat everything.
When you have one contractor working on a patio roof and another on walls...
...why do you get stuck fixing what each of them don't want to do?
I should have called these guys. At least I'd have gotten a good laugh. And I wouldn't have lost any money.
